Excursion 09

Sunday, 1 September 2002

Dear colleagues,

This is an about 20km lengthy trip. Although this outing has a few delicate passages, it does not need of any particular technical skill out of the good physical shape we've already got. However, this trip has some rather vertiginous sites in arriving to the top and, therefore, it is convenient to stay calm and concentrated. Foresee warm clothes and gloves!! Here is my proposal for this weekend:

Date: Sunday, 1 September 2002
Site: Tete du Colonney(2692m)
Classification: Difficult
Altitude: 2692m (highest point)
Vertical distance to climb: 1092(+200)m
Climbing time: 4h
Total hiking time (both ways): 8h
Starting point: Parking of Flaine(1600m)
Remarks: Rocky environment, Panoramic, Chamois.
Access: Motorway direction to Chamonix. Get out in Cluses. Take route D6 to Araches and then D106 to les Carroz and continue along the same road until arriving in Flaine. Do not park in the 1st parking at 1899 m but continue to the second parking below at 1600m. Park there. Driving time from CERN: 1h30
Meeting point: CERN Cafeteria (Main building) at 8.30 am

In the URL http://excursiones.salicio.com you can find information on the outings.

It is convenient to emphasize some useful items: please do not forget to carry on (wear) raincoat, hat/cap and sun glasses, warm globes, hiking boots or sport-footwear with thick and non-slipping sole, enough food and drinks for the own consumption. Spear dry clothes and after excursion confortable shoes are very convenient.

Have a lovely weekend!

Cheers!

Jose.
