Excursion 05

Saturday, 8 August 2009

Dear colleagues,

NOTE that wheather forecast for this Saturday announces strong local storms. It may be that I'll be conciously forced to give up the outing. Nevertheless I announce it in case weather improves!!

Following the meditated trend of this session I propose another short and easy outing. It enjoys a few environmental changes along the way, meadows, forest, rocks and curious rocky forms. Here is my proposal for this weekend.

Date: Saturday, 8 August 2009
Site: Rochers de Leschaux (1936 m)
Classification: P1, T1 (7 km)
Altitude: 1936 m
Climbing up distance: 500 m
Climbing time: 2h
Total hiking time: 4h
Starting point: Chalet Refuge de Solaison (1480 m)
Meeting point: Val Thoiry at 10h00 am in brasserie Le Sabayon.
Remarks: Views over La Pnte. Blanche and Pic de Jallouvre.
Access: Take motorway to Bonneville and get out there. Continue along N205 towards Bonneville. 1/2 km after crossing the small river "Le Borne" we arrive to a roundabout where we take the first exit continuing along N205. Some 3 km after we cross over the motorway "Blanche". Some 800 m after crossing over the motorway we should take road D186 to the right driving to Thuet. From Thuet continue along this road for about 5.5 km following the indications to Brizon. Once in Brizon take small road to the right following indications to Solaison. Some 6 km after Brizon we arrive to the Chalet Refuge de Solaison where we should find a place to park our car. The trip from CERN to Solaison should take ~1h15.

It is convenient to emphasize some useful items: please do not forget to carry on (wear) raincoat, hat/cap and sun glasses, warm gloves, hiking boots or sport-footwear with thick and non-slipping sole, enough food and drinks for the own consumption. Spear dry clothes and after excursion confortable shoes are very convenient.

Have a lovely weekend! Cheers! Jose.
