Excursion 01

Sunday, 25 July 2010

Dear colleagues,

This outing, the first of the session, is a very easy one. However, it is also a test to verify my spare capacity and the readiness of Alba to assume the usual hiking suffering. She is supposed to hike a sizeable fraction of the way! Here is the proposal:

Date: Sunday, 25 July 2010
Site: Pnte de Andey (1877m)
Classification: Very easy
Altitude: 1877 m (highest point)
Climbing up distance: 375 m
Climbing time: 1h30
Total hiking time: 2h30
Starting point: Solaison (1502m)
Meeting point: Val Thoiry at 10h00 am in brasserie Le Sabayon
Remarks: Panoramics
Access: Take motorway to Bonneville and get out there. Continue along N205 towards Bonneville. 1/2 km after crossing the small river "Le Borne" we arrive to a roundabout where we take the first exit continuing along N205. Some 3 km after we cross over the motorway "Blanche". Some 800 m after crossing over the motorway we should take road D186 to the right driving to Thuet. From Thuet continue along this road for about 5.5 km following the indications to Brizon. Once in Brizon take small road to the right following indications to Solaison. Some 6 km after Brizon we arrive to the Chalet Refuge de Solaison where we should find a place to park our car. The trip should take ~1h15.

It is convenient to emphasize some useful items: please do not forget to carry on (wear) raincoat, hat/cap and sun glasses, warm gloves, hiking boots or sport-footwear with thick and non-slipping sole, enough food and drinks for the own consumption. Spear dry clothes and after excursion confortable shoes are very convenient.

Have a lovely weekend! Cheers! Jose.
